On May 31, 2014, a suspicious suitcase was reported on the side of a road in the Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon. When the zipper was opened, a disfigured male torso was found inside. The body had been meticulously severed, apparently with a chainsaw, and was in a state of decay. The victim was identified as 51-year-old Kim Hyun-sang (pseudonym), who had gone missing five days earlier after leaving home for a job interview.

Police investigation revealed that the last person Kim Hyun-sang met was a 35-year-old woman named Park Hyun-ah (pseudonym), whom he had met on a dating app. The two had gone to a remote motel, and CCTV footage showed Park leaving the motel alone, with no sign of Kim Hyun-sang afterward. Park Hyun-ah was the primary suspect, and further investigation revealed that she used the victim’s credit card to purchase expensive jewelry, along with a chainsaw and trolley. When she was apprehended, the victim’s blood and tools used in the crime were found in her car.

Ahn Hyun-mo was horrified, saying, “How could she commit such a brutal murder with a chainsaw when there was no apparent motive?” while actress Lee Ji-hye added, “If Park Hyun-ah had not been quickly apprehended, it’s unimaginable what could have happened next.”

The episode also featured former detective Im Sang-do from the Incheon Namdong Police Station, who oversaw the investigation, and psychiatrist Cha Seung-min, who analyzed the psychological profile of the bizarre and grotesque murderer, Park Hyun-ah.
